Our priority throughout this process has been to secure a fair outcome for Jim, and we are pleased that this objective has now been achieved.

At the same time, this case highlights a broader challenge for our sport. When clubs fail to honour contractual obligations, players must have access to effective and timely dispute-resolution mechanisms within handball itself. Most players simply cannot afford lengthy and costly civil court proceedings, nor the uncertainty and professional consequences that often come with them.

The EHPU is confident that this view is shared by many across the handball community, and we will continue the dialogue with stakeholders throughout the EHF family to strengthen the regulatory framework of our sport.

If handball is to continue growth and development as a modern and professional sport, players and clubs alike must be able to resolve contractual disputes within the system of handball—fairly, efficiently, and with clear consequences when rules are not respected. Cases like this are not beneficial to anyone. They affect players, clubs, and ultimately the credibility and reputation of our sport.

Together, we must continue building a framework that protects all stakeholders and supports the long-term development of handball for the benefit of everyone involved.
